A huge piece of local history has rolled into The Exploration Place. The 1927 REO Speedwagon is part of an upcoming exhibit at the regional museum called “First On The Scene.” The fire truck, along with its sled-style predecessor, will be open to the public beginning Canada Day. A team of current and former firefighters helped move the fire engine into the museum yesterday. Other artifacts and pictures will be included. The exhibit celebrates the 100th anniversary of Prince George Fire Rescue. The Exploration Place will also host the unveiling of Frozen Flame: A History of the Prince George Fire Department. The $40 coffee table book chronicles 100 years of firefighting in Prince George. Proceeds from the book go to the BC Professional Fire Fighters Burn Fund.
