The deadline for City Council’s order to clean up the Lombardy Trailer park has come and gone. Council ordered the clean up or demolition of 16 trailers in the park July 9th. It also ordered the clean up of more than 30 other sites. Council set a deadline of July 20th to complete the work. And if the job wasn’t done, the City said it would complete the work itself and then bill the owner for all associated costs. Councillor Brian Skakun went through the park yesterday and wasn’t happy with what he saw.
“There’s been a little bit of work but, but the clear majority, in my opinion, hasn’t even been touched,” said Skakun. The councillor said he feels for residents who are maintaining their properties but find themselves caught in the middle. “Some of them are really upset that it got to this point,” said Skakun, “but they’re hopeful that the City is going to stick to their deadline, get the work done and if we have to, you know, bill the property owner.”
