The UNBC Timberwolves got different results as each team opened their soccer regular season Friday night.
The female T-Wolves looked poised for a win, over UBC-Okanagan thanks to a swift play from Sydney Hall. She nabbed a failed clearing attempt, tore into the attacking zone and blasted a shot past the Heat goalkeeper. The game sat at 1-0 until the 88th minute, when UNBC allowed a goal off a free kick. The teams finished the match in Prince George at 1-1.
Meanwhile, the UNBC men’s squad opened their schedule on the road, taking on the UVic Vikes in Victoria. The Timberwolves were held off the scoresheet in the 3-0 loss.
The UNBC women hope they can hold onto a lead when they host the TRU WolfPack tomorrow at noon. The men seek revenge in Victoria, tonight at 7:15.
