The Prince George Gymnastics Club appeared before city council Monday night looking for help.
City administration will now look at ways to address heating and insulation issues ahead of the winter season at the building. The city is also including the club’s facility in a building assessment process scheduled for next year.
The presentation to council also asked for consideration in the future during conversation surrounding a multi-sport complex. However, City Councillor Jillian Merrick says talk of a multi-sport complex started when many councillors thought the Four Seasons Pool would need replacing — a project that could include other sports venues. With a lower-than-expected price tag to repair the pool, she says the city is better off leaving both venues where they are and adding improvements.
With 1200 members, the metal building at Exhibition Park is jam-packed with young gymnasts.
