It’s been no secret that the Cariboo Cougars and City of Prince George have been selected to host the 2017 Telus Cup, which is the National Midget hockey championship. Today, it became that much more official, and BC Hockey Chair, Randy Henderson talked about the North’s growing reputation for hosting great events.
The Cariboo Cougars also debuted their new look today as they were joined by dignitaries from around the province for the big announcements. Keeping with the theme of the WHL Cougars, the logo features a ravenous cat with sharp teeth. The word “Cariboo” has been added. Plenty of Cougars were on-hand to show off their new duds at the Kin 1.
Speaking of the Cariboo Cougars, they open up their regular season this weekend, visiting the Valley West Hawks. The Hawks are expected to be a very good team this year, so a great test for Trevor Sprague and the boys. We talked to Cariboo Cats rookie Darian Long about opening the year on a winning note.
