Despite a sluggish start by the visiting Cascades, the UNBC men’s soccer team failed to win its home opener Saturday afternoon. The Timberwolves held the University of the Fraser Valley to just one shot in the first half. But it was UFV’s second-half substitution, Elijah Sampson, who opened the scoring in the 60th minute, knocking in a rebound on a play that started with a corner kick. The Cascades ended up taking the match 1-0. With the loss, the Timberwolves fall to 1-4 this season. The teams meet again in Prince George at 2:15 this afternoon, but first, the UNBC women take on UFV at noon.
