Prince George Mackenzie MLA Mike Morris has his first seat as a Minister in Christy Clark’s cabinet. Clark named Morris as the province’s new Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General. Before entering politics, Morris spent more than three decades with the RCMP, retiring as the Superintendent of North District.
Morris moves into a role that was being filled by Suzanne Anton. She will continue to act as the Minister of Justice and Attorney General.
In making the announcement Clark said, “Morris brings strong experience to the Executive Council as a 32-year veteran of the RCMP and former North District Superintendent. He will bring a singular focus to public safety as he builds on Suzanne Anton’s many accomplishments and an outstanding record of being tough on crime and strong on crime prevention.”
The move means all three local M.L.A.’s have a minister’s seat in cabinet. Nechako Lakes MLA John Rustad resides as the Minister of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation and Prince George Valemount MLA Shirley Bond, is the Minister of Jobs, Tourism, and Skills Training and Minister Responsible for Labour.
