Animal enthusiasts were in for quite the treat this weekend. Hawks, turtles, and even ferrets were on display at the Northern Sports Centre.
A wildlife festival that started in Newfoundland made it’s way across the country to Prince George.
Nearly 30 animals were on display and presentations were given about reptiles and birds of prey.
Children had the opportunity to see animals close up and learn about how they live in their natural environment.
The Canadian Raptor Conservancy’s Matthew Morgan says the animals help kids understand the importance of conserving the environment.
“Animals are actually one of things that they have a tangible sense of they see these animals, they know they’re out there, they see them in the wild. If they know a lot of these animals are here and a lot of them are having issues hopefully that kind of stays with them and makes them think as they grow up and makes them more aware of what’s going on in the world around them as well.”
