School District 57 has named an interim Superintendent, following Brian Peppers resignation earlier this month.
District veteran Sharon Cairns is coming out of retirement to take on the role. Cairns is a 30 year veteran with the school district. She’s worked as a teacher, Vice Principal, Principal, and Assistant Superintendent.
Board Chair Tony Cable says Cairns will hold the position on a short term basis, until a permanent replacement for the position is found.
“When we were looking for an interim it just seemed like a natural fit. She’s in the district, she knows the district. She has the experience. She’ll be a good person who can take the district through the next few months.”
The search for a permanent replacement will begin in the new year. Tony Cable says the school district will cast a wide net when hiring, hoping to find the best candidate they can.
