The largest snowfall of the season has kept snow clearing crews busy across Prince George. Priority one and priority two routes have been cleared and crews have begun to move into residential areas. Crews are focusing on the green and orange garbage collection zones today.
During snow removal periods, parking on the street is not allowed on priority one roads from 10:00pm to 7:00am. There is no parking downtown from midnight to 7:00am and no parking in residential areas from 8:00am to 6:00pm. You risk a $50 fine if you violate parking restrictions. In addition to fines, your vehicle could be towed away.
Street Operations Supervisor Mick Jones estimates the final bill to clean the streets will be over $600,000. Crews hope to complete the clearing operations by Thursday afternoon. Jones says more than 40 centimetres of snow blanketed Prince George over the two day storm which began Boxing Day.
