The City of Prince George has released its economic update for December 2015. The report looks at numbers from the previous month.
The unemployment rate in Prince George decreased slightly in November to 6.5 per cent compare to 6.6 per cent in October. However, the rate was 2.1 per cent higher than November of last year.
Compared to the rest of the province, total unemployment in decreased by 0.1 per cent, so Prince George is right on par with the rest of BC.
In terms of real estate, 23 newly constructed single detached homes were sold in November of 2015, compared to 16 new houses in November of 2014.
The average price of a home in Prince George increased from $405,031 in November of 2014 to $437,715 in November of 2015.
There were 44 housing starts in the city this past November compared to 28 the year prior. However, the province saw a slight decrease when comparing November of 2014 and 2015.
The city received 22 new business license application and three renewals in the month of November.
