WestJet is cancelling service between Calgary and Prince George in March of this year.
The company says the drop in the price of oil has affected demand and they simply aren’t filling seats like they once were.
Several other routes between Calgary, Edmonton and smaller Western Canadian cities will also see a reduction in service.
West jet says it wasn’t an easy decision to make, but it is what’s best for business.
WestJet’s Richard Bartrem says the airliner will reevaluate its decision in the future.
“This is something that we do revisit on a regular basis. So it is our hope that this is exactly that. Temporary changes and our hope is that we’ll be able to return service to match demand as more and more people start traveling into and out of Prince George.”
