If you own one of those famous green jackets or any other gear from the Canada Winter Games, get ready to break it out this weekend. The whole community is invited to the Canada Games Plaza for the one year anniversary celebration of the Canada Winter Games. It’s all part of the City’s Celebrate Prince George Festival.
Between 5pm and 9pm the plaza will be filled with live entertainment, snow sculptures, and food vendors. The Two Rivers art gallery will also be open to the public if people need to take a break and warm up.
The City’s Jenn Tkachuk says the hope is that everyone from the community will come out and celebrate.
“One of the reasons that we’ve created the plaza party is that everyone just really enjoyed the magic and the energy that happened during the games. and our gal is to recreate that as much as we can. We’re really making it a family friendly event and so it’s for everyone. It’s really a celebration of our community as well as volunteerism. So if you have any games gear or those famous green jackets, brush them off and bring them down to the plaza because we would like to celebrate the one year anniversary.”
The hope is to recreate the excitement that was at the plaza last year during the games. The party will end with a fireworks display at 9pm.
