Right now a Bella Coola is on his way to Vancouver. He’s not going by plane or car, he’s walking.
Tim Michalchuk’s wife, Shannon, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis six and a half years ago.
In the past few months her pain has gotten much worse. The pair have done research on experimental treatment, but it’s very expensive.
Michalchuk is embarking on this journey to raise money for treatment. He says his reason for doing so is simple.
“I got a woman that loves me back home whose hurting right now. ”
Over the next month he will walk more than one thousand kilometers. On the way to Vancouver he hopes to not only raise money for his wife’s treatment, but also raise awareness for the debilitating disease.
“My spouse is the matriarch of our family. She’s been there for us every step of the way, no matter what. She’s been the most supportive member of our family. And to see her the way she’s been lately, if I can stop that in it’s tracks or even make it better, if there’s even a mere hope to make it better I’m willing to do whatever it takes.”
