Exciting news for Prince George Cougars alumni Chase Witala. He has signed an Amateur Try Out contact with the American Hockey League’s Toronto Marlies.
Witala played 302 games with the Cougars and finished his WHL career with 120 goals and 239 points. Both franchise highs. This year he led the team, finishing with 40 goals and 79 points and was named the team’s MVP.
The season came to an abrupt end last week when the Cougars lost in round one of the playoffs.
Head Coach Mark Holick says he is very proud.
“Obviously a big part of our group he’s a local kid whose played his entire career here. We’re real proud of what he’s done. He’s come in here. He’s our franchise leader in points and goals. He’s a leader both on and off the ice. For me he’s been here since day 1, since I got here. He’s been a guy whose helped me along the way as well. So real happy for him and real proud of him.”
