More than 50 people from Prince George make up the Wheelin’ Warriors of the North. This August, they will travel to Vancouver, representing the north in BC’s Ride to Conquer Cancer. They are training for the 200 kilometer ride to Seattle! It’s a big challenge, but one Karin Piche knows all too well. She lost her best friend Nola to cancer. Piche is the team captain; she says all of the effort and stress will be worth it when riders pass the finish line. Cancer touches many lives, and that’s why the team is raising funds. Every cent will go to the BC Cancer Foundation.
This Saturday, April 30, the Wheelin’ Warriors are hosting their biggest fundraiser of the year. The FREE WHEELIN’ Dinner and Dance starts at 6pm, at Fore Bistro at the Prince George Golf and Curling Club. There will be some tickets available at the door for $40 each, first come, first served. The event will include guest speakers, a 50/50 draw, silent auction and plenty of desserts!
