According to recent studies, more than 67% of Canadians have known a woman who has experienced physical or sexual abuse.
70% of those who have experienced family violence are women.
Now, a Prince George woman is hoping to help heals the wounds.
Lisa Loewen has ridden horses for quite some time now. And she believes this relationship between animal and human goes beyond just horseback riding. Loewen runs Equine Facilitated Wellness on Cranbrook Hill.
Starting in June she will be utilizing her equine therapy to help women who have been victims of violence.
Lisa’s program will run four times, once monthly between June and September and each session will be open to about eight to 10 women.
It is confidential and Loewen says the society is calling on anyone to express interest.
