A Grade 12 Duchess Park Secondary Student is the newest recipient of the largest Canadian scholarship to study in the Sciences.
Mana Moshkforoush is awarded the Schulich Leadership Scholarship valued at $60,000 dollars to study Science at McGill University. Originally from Iran, she moved to Prince George two years ago, with dreams of helping others in the field of medicine.
Moshkforoush was nominated by Kirk Elliot for her outstanding academic and extracurricular achievements. Elliot says he is confident in her ability to do great things moving forward. “As Mana’s counselor for the past two years, I have come to know her as a scholar, a leader, and committed volunteer in the community,” Elliot said. “She is the top academic student at Duchess Park this year with a 97.2% average. I am sure she will continue to excel at McGill this September.”
The award is given out only to the most promising high school students and it’s clear, Moshkforoush is excited to make a difference. “I’m taking biomedical sciences next year so hopefully I’ll take that into medicine and I would like to pursue medicine with the Doctors Without Border Organization or the U-N.”
