From food trucks, to a duck race, to a massive slip & slide, there will be a festival going on at UNBC this long weekend! The Fun City Slider is travelling across western Canada. Proceeds from Saturday’s event in Prince George will go to the YMCA of Northern BC. Young and old are invited to pick up a tube and hurdle down the track! The YMCA is looking for about 30 more volunteers to help with the event, including parking attendants, ticket sales and people to help sliders out of the catch pool. Shifts are 4 hours long; each volunteer will earn a free 3-slide pass. The pass is transferable; so an adult volunteer can give their ticket to a kid to use. There are still some tickets available online. YMCA staff will also be selling them at Friday’s Canada Day celebrations at Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park. For those who have already purchased tickets, the YMCA is encouraging them to bring their confirmation email to the Y on Massey Drive; they will be given their wristbands early, so they won’t have to wait in line on Saturday!
