Even on the wet grass, die hard yogis just couldn’t resist this Summer’s first ‘Yoga In The Park’ event Sunday.
Nearly 80 people turned out for the first free class put on by Chinook Yoga running every Sunday in July and August from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park. Instructor, Shauna Korogonas, says the health benefits of yoga are endless. “It calms the mind”, she said. “A lot of people come to yoga thinking they’re doing it either for the stretch, balance, or strengthening benefits, but really they feel so good after because it really aligns our energy, our glands, our organs, it helps to open up everything within that we can come to the present moment of being.”
To join, all you need to do is sign up on a sheet at the event and bring a yoga mat. Korogonas says anyone is able to partake in her outdoor classes and people of all ages and physical fitness levels are welcome. “There’s so many different forms, absolutely anybody and everybody can do it.”
