Alcohol Likely Cause Of Fatal Crash

Around 7:30 am Friday, a 64-year old cyclist on a motorized tricycle was trying to cross Highway 16 at Gauthier Road, against a red light. He was hit by an oncoming pickup. The man was taken to hospital where he later passed away. The cyclist is being investigated under the criminal code, for having a blood alcohol level above the legal limit. Police are asking cyclists to obey the rules of the road. But especially in this dark, wet weather, drivers should be extra vigilant of both cyclists and pedestrians. David Lee at Cycle Logic recommends cyclists have and LED light on the front and back of their bike, both day and night. Colourful, reflective clothing is another good way to stand out, and stay safe.
