Dan Hamhuis Signs With Dallas Stars

Former Cougar defenseman and current part owner Dan Hamhuis (has signed a two year free agent contract with the National Hockey League’s Dallas Stars, marking an end to his time in a Vancouver Canucks’ sweater. A 12-year NHL vet, Hamhuis has played 872 career NHL games, scoring 55 goals, 248 assists, 565 penalty minutes and is a career +81. The native of Smithers has represented Canada nine times and has captured three gold medals, including a 2014 Olympic Gold Medal. He spent four seasons with the Cats, playing 247 career games in the WHL, and serving as captain during the 2001-02 season. That season, he captured the Four Broncos Memorial Trophy as WHL Player of the Year and the Bill Hunter Memorial Trophy as WHL Defenseman of the Year.
