A front runner in the leadership race for the BC Conservative Party, has outlined a piece of the party’s platform for next spring’s election. Under his leadership, Dan Brooks says the Conservatives will sell off the province’s liquor stores and casinos.
“Historically, the Province of British Columbia established and operated Crown corporations as a means to stimulate and lead economic development,” said Brooks. He added, “it’s long past time we restored the traditional role of Crown corporations as engines of economic growth.”
Brooks says government will continue to benefit through a stream of funds from the two areas through licensing and taxation.
The Conservatives leadership convention is planned for September 17th in Prince George. The next provincial election is scheduled for May 9th, 2017.
