Disposable Items Clogging City Sewer

The City of Prince George would like residents be more cautious with items they flush away.  Things such as disposable wipes, feminine products and paper towels are stressing the sewer system and adding an extra cost to running the system. From time to time utility crews need to remove and open sewage pumps and pipes to get it working properly.  So called flushable items are creating havoc with the cities sewer system. The city utility crews maintain over 800 kilometres of sewage lines and continues to work day or night to remove the non-degradable material. The city would like to remind residents to avoid flushing disposable items. Throw them into the garbage and paper towels to the compost.
