A stabbing on the Tache Reserve west of Fort St James has claimed a life. RCMP were called to the reserve early Sunday morning. On the way, they came across a family vehicle carrying the 31 year old man into hospital. One officer followed the family into hospital where he was pronounced dead. Other police drove to the reserve and arrested a 33 year old suspect. Mounties say the two knew each other.
The Tache Reserve is part of the Tl’azt’en First Nation. It’s located approximately 65 kilometres west of Fort St. James.
Meantime the Independent Investigations Office is looking into the incident, examining police actions around the medical assistance provided to the victim.
Police are also asking all witnesses to come forward to assist the investigation, which is being led by the North District Major Crime Unit.
