Small Fire At Vanderhoof Sawmill

Prince George, BC, Canada / CKPG News

Just after 11am, Vanderhoof RCMP rushed to Canfor’s Plateau Mill. Vanderhoof fire services extinguished a small blaze in the facility, about 25 kilometres west of town. Some people were treated for smoke inhalation, but there were no major injuries. The fire was started by a welding torch near an edger machine, during routine maintenance of the sawmill. Police say the fast response of employees kept this fire from being much worse. Vanderhoof RCMP will now assist Work Safe BC with the remainder of the investigation.
