Lone Kayaker Rescued On Bowron River

According to Prince George Search and Rescue officials, a man under-estimated the conditions Bowron River east of Prince George, failed to prepare properly for a journey down the river and found himself in some trouble this past weekend.
The man kayaked 8.5 kilometres downstream when he realized he was in trouble and sought the safety of an island. The rescue went smoothly but could’ve been avoided all together if the kayaker had a better understanding of his ability,  equipment and water conditions. Prince George Search and Rescue advise formal training from experienced whitewater instructors should be considered before heading out to northern BC rivers.
