Three thousand pounds. That’s the amount of food products the Prince George Salvation Army has received in the last week thanks to a simple pay it forward effort by local community members.
The One Bag Challenge is a movement where one person donates a single bag of food to their local food bank and nominates five people to donate even more. The challenge is making a big impact, especially during the summer months says Administrative Assistant with the Salvation Army, Sharon Harder. “With the food bank shelves being empty about a month ago, it’s very difficult for us to provide the need for the community,” she said. “With this one bag challenge it’s very appreciated, we’re very excited to be able to have a lot of product back on our shelves again.”
