‘It’s a long ride, but next month the ‘Tour de North’ team is cycling all the way from Prince George to Prince Rupert all in support of pediatric cancer research.
Members of the team and volunteers are out in full force hosting a ‘Cops for Cancer’ fundraising barbecue at the corner of Central Street East and Fifth Avenue. The event will provide plenty of food, entertainment, and fun activities for everyone.
Community rider, Martin Hooke, says the funds are making a huge impact year over year, sending kids to Summer camp and helping with the fight against cancer. “The Cops for Cancer Tour de North is one of four Cops For Cancer rides in BC. We generally raise about two million dollars a year for pediatric cancer care and research and we absolutely are making a difference in the treatment in the care and the cure from pediatric cancer.”
The event runs until 2 p.m. Friday.
