The Cariboo Cougars are ready to set sail on what will surely be an incredible season. They will host the 2017 Telus Cup – the National championship for midget hockey. This week they had 40 prospective Cougars on the ice for camp, and say the quality of the players made sense, considering what is waiting for the squad at season’s end. The roster has been trimmed down to 34 players, with the hopes of being down to 20 by September. Last year, the Cariboo Cats were ahead of schedule, and made it all the way to the BC Major Midget championship series, despite having a very young roster. The vast majority of the team is eligible to return, and while no jobs are secure, the Cats look primed for a run.
