About 150 boxes of books lined the AiMHi gym with all of them donated and sold for a good cause this weekend.
As part of a fundraising initiative, the public was invited to purchase books by donation with all proceeds going toward Spinal Cord Injury B.C. Programs. From bestselling novels, to old CDs, DVD, and board games, the sale had it all. Project Coordinator Assistant with Spinal Cord Injury B.C., Karen Marshall, says all the funds stay in Prince George. “We had a very modest goal to raise 500 dollars and we met that goal on Saturday,” she said. “The money we raise really helps people with Spinal Cord Injuries in Prince George, we have a couple of different peer programs we run with a peer coordinator who has a spinal cord injury. We were just down in Dougherty Creek to help with the accessible trails there so every little bit helps to do more.”
Marshall estimates about 700 dollars was raised this weekend. All the leftover books will be boxed up and sold to the local Value Village. The proceeds from that sale will go to AiMHi.
