August 20, mayor Lyn Hall will officially proclaim “Tragically Hip Day” in Prince George! The community is invited to join in a celebration of the iconic Canadian band, which will be wrapping up its tour in its hometown of Kingston, Ontario. From 11 to 2, Canada Games Plaza will host a party complete with music, a photo booth, raffle prizes and barbeque, all to raise funds for brain cancer research. Local fans are also organizing a screening of Saturday’s concert in Kingston, one of hundreds happening across the country. Matt Hutcheon, a Kingston native, says since he was a teenager, the Hip have been the soundtrack of his life. Starting at 4:30, the Ramada will host the screening.
