Fire Fighters Will Get New Training

The City’s fire fighters will get training in administering Naloxone. Currently the City has no agreement with BC Health Services that would allow City fire fighters to carry out the task. In BC, there are two thousand First Responders trained to administer the life-saving drug, but none in Prince George.
Fire Chief John Iverson told Mayor and Council there were 3,000 overdoses due to opiates in 2015 and BC is about to surpass that number already in the first six months of this year.
Equipping the trucks with Naloxone would cost about $20/truck and the training is about two hours in length.
