The UNBC Men’s Timberwolves Soccer Team had their hands full Saturday against the UBC Thunderbirds.
UBC blanked the T-wolves 4-0 in Vancouver thanks to goals from Manpal Brar, Titouan Chopin, Lucas Reis, and Bryan Fong. Brar got things going in the 19th minute putting the ball in the back of the net off a through ball from Zach Verhoven.
From there, the CIS number three ranked Thunderbirds added goals in the 39th, 79th and 82nd minutes. Rob Goodey made three saves on 15 shots in his CIS debut for the Timberwolves. On the other side, UBC keepers Chad Bush and Jason Roberts combined for the clean sheet.
On Sunday, the back half of the double-header was a bit closer as UNBC opened up the scoring in Game two with a 19th minute goal from Owen Stuart. Unfortunately, just a few minutes later, UBC hit right back with a a goal from Tyler Mertens. In the second half, additional Thunderbirds goals from Liam McManaman and Zach Verhoven would seal the deal for a 3-1 victory.
UNBC now falls to 0-4-0 on the season, while UBC improves to 3-0-1.
