Last winter our region experienced warmer than normal temperatures. In fact, it felt like spring arrived in January. Weather experts say the mild winter was the result of the influence of El Niño. But as another winter approached, El Niño is gone and has been replaced by La Niña. And that means more snow and colder temperatures. Experts say the worse is yet to come. By the time December arrives, weather patterns will be changing…and winter is expected to leave it’s mark. Experts say we could be in store for a colder winter than normal. It’s believed the La Niña event is expected taper off late spring of next year…no one can predict when El Niño will reappear…but history suggests it will be back as soon as 2020.
