BC’s Labour Minister is over the moon at how well a meeting of Canadian Labour Ministers went yesterday in Prince George.
“Constructive” is the term used by BC Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Skills, Training, Shirley Bond described the day-long meeting.
Some of the dominant themes during the meeting was workplace mental health and workforce flexibility.
“It’s clearly one of the main issues on the table for us,” says Federal Labour Minister MaryAnn Mihychuk. “It’s refreshing to open the door of silence on mental health and how it impacts each and every one of us.”
“We certainly, as a province, have made significant progress in terms of the recognition that bullying and harassment, those kinds of things,” says Bond. The impacts on First Responders, of trauma, that they have in workplaces in British Columbia.”
Bond says, as a Northern British Columbian, she is especially proud to have had this meeting in her home capital of Prince George.
