Spruce Kings Suffer 11-2 Loss To Wenatchee

It’s a game the Prince George Spruce Kings will most certainly want to forget. The club received a huge wake-up call Saturday night, getting dropped 11-2 on home ice by the Wenatchee Wild.

After just five minutes, the Wild were up by three goals and took a 4-0 lead after the first period thanks to goals from Lucas Sowder, Troy Conzo, Slava Demin, and AJ Vanderbeck. Conzo would add two more goals to complete his hat-trick along with two assists. Vanderbeck also had a four point night for the Wild.

Goals from the Spruce Kings came from Captain Brett Mennear and Connor Russell.

Wenatchee completes the three game sweep of Prince George, outscoring the Spruce Kings 24-6. The Wild improve to 3-0 on the season, while the Spruce Kings fall to 0-4-1 to start the season.

With plenty of room for improvement, the Spruce Kings travel to Chilliwack to play the Merritt Centennials on Thursday and the Penticton Vees on Friday.
