Enbridge says it will not appeal a ‘Federal Court of Appeals’ decision that reversed Ottawa’s approval for the Northern Gateway pipeline project. The Federal Court of Appeal said in June that the federal government failed in its duty to consult with aboriginal people on the 7.9-billion dollar project. Enbridge’s pipeline proposal has been in the making for more than a decade. It would involve the construction of more than a thousand kilometres of pipeline from Edmonton to Kitimat. But the Company president says meaningful consultation, not litigation, is the best path forward. But it’s still not a project the Chief of the ‘Carrier Sekani’ Tribal Council can support.
