The Cats are back!
Prince George opened up its season 2016/17 WHL season with a convincing 3-1 road victory over the Victoria Royals Friday night.
It only took the Cougars 6:53 seconds to draw first blood. Defenceman Max Martin wired a loose puck past a sprawling Griffen Outhouse for his first ever WHL goal. Just three minutes later, PG would strike again as Colby McAuley would redirect a pass from Yan Khomenko.
From there, the Cats never looked back. McAuley would add a second goal in the third period. Cougars goalie and goalie Ty Edmonds made 30 saves to secure the 3-1 victory.
The win is the first for Cougars Head Coach, Richard Matvichuk. He will hope his club can repeat its performance for a rematch game in Victoria Saturday at 7:05 p.m.
