The Russians Are Coming!

Tickets went on sale today for Canadian Hockey League’s Canada-Russia Series, set to take place at the CN Centre on November 7th. Prince George is the only BC location for a game, with Game 2 set for Edmonton. For the host team, getting the game here was fairly simple, all things considered.
“We’ve done the Canada Winter Games, we’ve got the Telus Cup, we’ve had so many other fantastic events here. The Canadian Hockey League came to us,” says Andy Beesley, Vice President of Business for the Prince George Cougars. He says Prince George reputation brought the CHL to the door. And even Council has gotten into the swing of things. At the most recent Council meeting, an adjustment was made to the schedule for regular meeting, which would have taken place on November 7th. It has been moved to November 9th instead.
I know how scintillating Council meetings are. They’re positively riveting. And I know it would have been tough for people to choose, Council or the Canada-Russia Game,” says Acting Mayor Terri McConnachie, tongue-in-cheek. “Yeah, so we thought we’d make it easy for people and re-schedule the Council meeting.”
Another feather in the cap for Prince Gorge: The game will be aired nationally on SportsNet.
