For the first time this season, the Prince George Spruce Kings are on a winning streak.
In his debut with the club, Tavin Grant made 21 saves on 24 shots to give Prince George the 5-3 victory at home against the Cowichan Valley Capitals.
Despite giving up a goal on the first shot of the game, Prince George battled back. Calvin Tinsley would score on the powerplay late in the first period, banging in a shot off of an Ethan De Jong rebound.
A couple of goals in the second period from both sides would level the game tied 2-2 after 40 minutes. Kyle Johnson marker put one home for Prince George, while Ty Pochipinski tipped in a point shot.
In the third period, the Spruce Kings would finally take the lead thanks to Hunter Luhmann who scored his first goal in the BCHL. After going scoreless in five games, Luhmann made no mistake taking the puck down the right wing and scoring short side on Capitals Goalie, Adam Marcoux.
Goals from Adam Burnett and former Capitals player, Connor Russel would put Prince George up 5-3 to seal the victory.
The Spruce Kings now sit third place in the Mainland Division.
Prince George will now travel to Wenatchee for a pair of games against the Wild next Friday and Saturday.
