It was a sweet homecoming for the Prince George Cougars Friday night.
The Cats continued their winning ways with a convincing 4-1 victory against the Kelowna Rockets to start the season with five consecutive victories.
Despite the win, the visitors did give Prince George a scare early on in the match. Just 2:45 into the first period, Jake Kryski scored his scecond of the season for Kelowna to take a 1-0 lead.
The nerves may have been a bit more tense for the Cougars, but the squad managed to battle right back when Brad Morrison found twine off a beautiful shot in the slot right over the glove of Rockets Goalie Michael Herringer.
Morrison would add the game-winner in the second period, while Yan Khomenko and Shane Collins would add markers later on to secure the win.
Cougars Goalie, Ty Edmonds had a pretty quiet night stopping 15 of the 16 shots he faced. On the other end, Herringer faced 40 shots and made 40 saves.
Total attendance at the game was 5,282 fans.
The Cougars now improve to 5-0 on the season, while the Rockets fall to 1-3. Both clubs will face off in a rematch 7pm Saturday at the CN Centre.
