Cariboo Blanks North Island, Wickson Gets Shutout

In just his second start with the Cariboo Cougars, Zach Wickson has recorded his first career BC Major Midget Hockey League shutout.

It was Wickson’s performance that would lead the Cougars to a 3-0 win Saturday against the North Island Silvertips at the BCMML showcase in Richmond.

The scoreline of the Saturday’s game, now matches the Cougars record on the season sitting tied with the Valley West Hawks atop the standings at 3-0.

Devin Sutton, Hunter Floris, and Mason Richey each scored for Cariboo. Sutton got his name on the scoresheet just 90 seconds into the game.

The second period stayed quiet as neither team could get on the board, but midway through the third period, Floris converted thanks to assisting players Jeremy Gervais and Daine Dubois.

Richey would add the empty-netter with 23 seconds left to seal the deal.

The Cougars and Silvertips will play once again at the Richmond Oval at 10 a.m. Sunday.
