UNBC held its eleventh annual career fair, connecting students with future employers. This was the university’s biggest fair to date. The event boasted 59 employers offering part time and full time work. The fields of employment range from accounting to forestry to I.T. services.
“This is a great opportunity for our UNBC students to find out about job opportunities with the employers.” said Maria Trujillo, Coordinator, UNBC Student Career Centre. “They get to find out a little more about what they’re looking for from students, how to apply for positions, so once they’re graduated or while they’re in school they can find employment.”
This event gives employers a face to face opportunity to meet with the students and interview them on the spot. The fair also helps students find what job opportunities can come out of a degree.
“You’re able to talk to the employers and get to know the different jobs that are out there. It’s the time you see one job and think like for instance you see the bank and think right away just a bank teller.” said Ana Trujillo, student, Political Science and International Studies. “There’s actually so much more diversity and job opportunities within a field that it’s not so narrow and with any degree there’s an opportunity with any job.”
