Another game, another tough loss for the UNBC Women’s Soccer Team.
The University of Alberta Pandas had no trouble defeated the Timberwolves on their home turf Saturday afternoon by a score of 3-0.
Alberta opened up the scoring just two minutes into the game, drawing an early foul to earn a free kick. Aly Parth had no trouble making UNBC pay with a beautiful free kick from 25 yards out, placed perfectly in the top left corner.
The Pandas continued to apply pressure to find the back of the net in the 20th minute as Sydney Daines slid home slid home the insurance marker thanks to a Timberwolves giveaway in the 18 yard box. Just minutes later, UNBC nearly cut the deficit off a nice passing sequence, but Panda’s Goalkeeper Cassie Bazzarelli was able to make the save on Ashley Anderson.
In the second half, U of A would put the nail in the coffin off another shot from outside the box. This time, Karissa McNutt found the top right corner to seal the victory.
Timberwolves Goalkeeper, Lianna Toopitsin made nine saves in the loss, while Bazzarelli saved four shots.
UNBC now falls to (0-9-0), while the University of Alberta improves to (5-2-2).
Both teams will reconvene Sunday at the North Cariboo Senior Soccer League Fields at noon.
