The University of the Fraser Valley Cascasdes blanked the UNBC Timberwolves Men’s Soccer Team by a score of 2-0 Saturday night in the regular season finale for both blubs.
Thanks to goals from Justin Sekhon and Jassi Mann, UFV finished off its season strong at home in Abbotsford with a record of 8-6-2, good enough for third place in the Pacific Division and a playoff berth.
Cascades Keeper, David Hicks made seven saves in the victory, meanwhile UNBC fell to 4-10-2 on the season and a seventh place finish in the Pacific Division.
In Women’s Soccer action, the Timberwolves lose yet another tough game.
Visiting the Grant MacEwan Griffins in Edmonton, UNBC would only lose by a score of 1-0 after a 34th minute strike from Suekiana Choucair in the 34th minute. Choucair took a pass and drilled the ball into the top right corner of the net past keeper Liana Toopitsin to pick up her seventh goal of the season.
The T-wolves would try to keep things interesting with a threatening shot from Tianna Pius from 25 yards. Griffins keeper, Emily Burns was able to tip away the chanceoff the croassbar and then watched a rebound from Jessica Erickson fly over the net.
UNBC now falls to 0-11-1 and will finish off its season at 11 a.m. Sunday in Calgary against the Mount Royal Cougars.
