A 9-year-old student at Spruceland Traditional Elementary is competing in a national contest. Grade 4 teacher, Mrs. J. Lee, encouraged her class to enter in the Telus Wise Footprint Comic Contest. Children between the ages of 7 and 14 were asked to design a comic strip that incorporates online bullying and cyber safety.
Mairin Callaghan has been chosen as one of the three finalists in the contest. All finalists will receive $500 for placing, and their school will also receive money; the amount depending on how contestants place.
Spruceland Traditional is hoping for the first place prize of $3000, which would go towards upgrading technology at the school.
You can vote for Mairin’s comic “The Posted Picture!” as many times as you like. Voting closes on October 28th.
