The harmful affects of too much candy is nothing new, but a local dental clinic in Prince George is offering a solution.
Timber Ridge Dental is launching the “Halloween Buy Back”. On November 1st, families are encouraged to bring candy to the office between 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
They will receive $1 per pound of unopened candy. To sweeten the deal, kids will also have their names entered in a draw to win a tablet or an iPod, while parents can enter their names into a draw for restaurant gift cards and a pair of movie passes.
So what will the clinic do with all the candy? “We figure the best way to prevent kids from actually consuming it, and making sure nobody else does, is just to throw it away,” says Dr. Terah Albertson. “The good side of that is we are going to donate a pound of apples for every five pounds of candy donated to the Salvation Army Food Bank.”
