Clown Costumes "Not Appropriate" For School on Halloween

At a recent Principal’s meeting, School District 57 deemed clown costumes “not appropriate” for school this Halloween. Superintendent of the District, Marilyn Marquis-Forster, says “Every Halloween, school communities talk to students and parents about what is and isn’t appropriate in Halloween activities. We don’t have replica weapons come to school, we don’t have things that are confusing.”

She goes on to say “The clown costume topic of course did come up…Let’s face it, Halloween comes with some scary notions that of course we all find fun, but we don’t want to affirm violence either.”

Corporal Craig Douglas says Mounties will be out in full force on Halloween, as they are every year. “It doesn’t matter what costume people are in. If people are behaving inappropriately where it may put in jeopardy public safety, they will get a police response.”
