Soon kids will be out in full force, haunting people’s doorsteps. Before they hit the streets to trick-or-treat, Mounties want to remind families to stay safe.
Corporal Craig Douglass says young children should be accompanied by adults, and recommends teenagers trick-or-treat in groups. Douglass says parents should check their children’s candy at the end of the night. Anything that has been opened or tampered with should be discarded. In his career at the detachment, he has not come across any candy-tampering incidents.
Trick-or-treaters are encouraged to wear lights or reflective material, and carry flashlights. Drivers are reminded to be extra cautious on the roads.
